WednesdayJune 27th 2018

Thank you for all who supported this event - the competitors, land owners, and especially the marshals.  Both races were very successful, with a few lessons learnt for the 10k, and we would be interested on feedback about an idea to increase the distance of the junior event.

There are a number of photos on the Chard Road Runners Facebook web page.

A page that contains the 10k results under the 'Our Races' tab has been added

For the Junior results either click on the link below, or scroll to the bottom of this page.

10K and Junior 1500m race Wednesday 27th June

1500m race starts at 18:15. Is for Primary school children and below - no lower age limit - parents allowed to accompany child.  This year the entry is free.  We have 150 medals for the 1500, so assuming we do not get more than 150 entrants, all participants will get a medal.  Although the 1500m is free we do need participants to register.  There are prizes for the first three boys and the first three girls, plus a team award.  There are no age category prizes

10k online advanced entries will close on Tuesday 26th.  Entry on the day will be available.

Senior 10k race starts at 19:00.  There are age category prizes and a team prize.  Medal for all participants.

Registration opens at 17:00 for both events. Entries accepted on the day or in advance for 10k only on link above.

The race permit for both races is issued by The Association of Running Clubs - permit ARC 18/385

Please note - much of the route is run on private grounds. Please do not run the route without express permission of all relevant landowners. Set in the heart of West Dorset, the Forde Abbey 10k Cross Country was a renowned race that rolls through woodlands, meadows and rivers on the stunning Forde Abbey Estate. TA20 4LU.

The 10km route includes mud, rocky tracks, hills, big views, more hills and two river crossings near to the end, after some more hills. Few race routes rival this for spectacular rural scenery. What better way is there to spend a summer evening?

As with all Chard Road Runner events, we won't be doing postal entries - just online (link at the top of this page), or enter on the day. Medal for all participants.

Obviously weather dependent but it is great location to bring a picnic to and stay on after the event

A Junior 1500 metres race within the grounds of the park is being held, starting at 18:15. It is open to primary school children and below.
There are no lower age limits. Adults can accompany children.

Please arrive in plenty of time to pick up your number from Race HQ - numbers will not be sent out.
